Bat for Lashes is to Annie Lennox as Florence and the Machine is to… Kate Bush?
Freakishly, these ants have found a way to adapt to water and form their colony into a life raft for their beloved Queen!
Pee Wee Herman is returning!!!!
according to Slash Film, it appears that the a “re-imagined, re-invented and nuttier than ever” Pee Wee Herman act is hitting the Hollywood theatre scene in November.
“It’s time,” said Reubens in a press release. “My Pee-wee suit and red bow tie are at the ready – and this is proof that white shoes are cool past Labor Day.”
call me a pansy if you like, but i am desperately hoping this gets filmed and released.
what’s that? oh yeah, well i know you are but what am i?! heh HA!
i stumbled across these two movie trailers recently. i have been jonesing for a great, well-crafted documentary lately. by the looks of it, we might have some good/disturbing new true stories coming our way.
The Cove Directed by Louie Psihoyos
We Live In Public Directed by Ondi Timoner
Missed this one in theaters, but it’ll be released on DVD November 3rd.
Food, Inc. Directed by Robert Kenner
i just returned from Market Basket; bought a farm’s worth of fruits and vegetables for cheap and in the process reaffirmed that i must be one of the very few self-aware human beings left in the universe. people are such clueless meandering, consumption-hungry zombies! either that or Demoulas needs to invest in wider isles and/or smaller carriages.
i just want my produce dammit!

and this is my godson; the handsome Mr. Teagan Prescod!
i finally saw The Fly. i’m embarrassed to say i hadn’t seen it until now. it truly is an awesomely gruesome classic monster flick. definitely wasn’t expecting to see that much Jeff Goldblum flesh and Geena Davis is always awesome in every single way. David Cronenberg is fast becoming one of my favorite directors.
go rent this.
we were approved for an apartment in Reading, MA! we move in September 1st!
last night we saw Blondie and Pat Benatar grace the same stage at the Meadowbrook Pavillion in Gilford, NH.
it was a great show overall, but i suspect some live autotunes usage, which is disappointing. if anything, Debbie Harry used it more than Benatar, as Pet’s vocals sounded a little more raw… until they added echo effects to the end of her phrases. Debbie Harry is really starting to look her age (64) and it’s hard to palate. these people become such icons, you forget that they age, gain weight and eventually move around stage like they forgot to take their meds. despite a somewhat bizarre performance, Blondie was charming and still managed to connect with the audience. they sounded perfect… suspiciously perfect. they also closed the set with “Heart of Glass” leading into a Michael Jackson tribute, “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough.”
Pat Benatar had a much more polished set, but that’s expected considering she hits up the summer music concert circuit every year. girl’s got stamina. what makes this year special, aside from double billing with Blondie, is the fact that they are celebrating their thirtieth anniversary. throughout the show, Benatar and her husband/guitarist, Spider offered many insights and history lessons throughout the set. there was a lot of great energy, they looked like they were having a blast, and pat benatar’s soprano is as killer as it had ever been.
awesome night, overall. The Donnas opened the show and did well. i enjoy them but its hard for me to take them seriously. they’re music is catchy and fun if not silly and they sure know their music history to be able to ripoff tribute so many bands in three chords or less.
